There is very little chance that someone that has never suffered from acute pain or mobility problems will understand exactly how it feels. How it limits your everyday activities; how it stops you from doing the things that you love and how it is incredibly mentally draining. It’s truly frustrating trying to explain to someone how something they don’t understand is having such an impact on your life.
That’s why so many people look for quick fixes when it comes to sports injuries, back problems, knee pain and post-op recovery; sadly there is no such thing. Well, no quick fix that is affordable, healthy and a long-term solution; most of them will have you right back where you started a few months down the line – or worse.
Our Philosophy at Mordialloc Physiotherapy
Clear Physiotherapy is a Mordialloc Physio that has senior physiotherapists that are highly trained with years and years of experience. But more importantly, we understand the pain and how each person deals and manages with it differently.
I was diagnosed with two prolapsed disks on my lumbar spine when I was 13; one of the things I struggled with most while trying to get my pain under control was the loss of independence and the reliance I had on someone else to manage my pain for me. Through the years, however, I learned the techniques that my body was responding to and I soon was able to self-manage my pain and I do to this day.
“Well, you’re a physio, so it’s easy.” In fact, I learned these techniques way before I studied as a physio and I have now simply been able to improve them with experience. This is the message that I want to get through to my clients: everyone can start to manage their own pain if they are taught how.

Techniques to take home
One of the goals we have for our clients is for them to be in control of their pain management; this gives a sense of self-assurance and independence that is often lost when relying on someone else all the time. Once we know a bit more about you, we will devise a plan for self-management techniques that you are able to do at home that will hopefully get you to a place where you need to come into us less often and improve your quality of life and freedom.
